🍺 Hop growing season is underway at 38th and Cheatham
The team of volunteers will meet weekly through the rest of the summer to tend the plot — and, just as much or moreso, hang out and drink beer.

Last Wednesday, a group of the volunteers who maintain the Community Hops garden got together to hang coconut fiber ropes from the criss-crossing wires they’ve suspended 20 feet off the ground.
It was the first communal chore in what will be a summer full of them, as the group kicks off its 12th season of growing the spindly beer ingredient on the formerly vacant lot at 38th and Cheatham. From now through September, the dozen or so core members will meet up every Wednesday evening to tend to the 3,600-square-foot plot — and, just as much or more so, hang out and drink beer, much of it brewed themselves.
