💿 Time Bomb and Nostalgia Zone both expanding at 36th and Lake
A major shakeup is coming to the southwest corner of 36th and Lake this spring.
Time Bomb Vintage will expand its current storefront into half of the neighboring space recently vacated by Prairie Woodworking. Nostalgia Zone Comic Books will move from its small storefront into the other half of the old Prairie Woodworking space. And a storied store with similar clientele is rumored to be moving into Nostalgia Zone's old space later this spring.
The changes come after local preservationist and contractor Krishna Dorney purchased the property in November, ending a two-year limbo period for the building's half-dozen commercial tenants.
Background
Sitting at the intersection of two streetcar lines, the building has been a key small business hub since it was built in 1922, home to the types of businesses you'd expect near a busy streetcar stop: Grocery, pharmacy, bakery, tailor, barber. It expanded piecemeal over the years, adding a trio of small shops along 36th Avenue in 1933 and later a breezeway connecting them in the back.
